How AI Private Eye handles your personal data and the data of the people and companies you research.
Effective 13 October 2026 · Version 1.1 · Revision history
1.Who we are
AI Private Eye is operated by Automated Governance Systems Ltd (company no. 16076383), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, which is the data controller for the service. We follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2.What we process
We keep data collection to what the service needs to run:
- Investigation intake you enter: subject name, location, organisation, contact or social handle, registry ID and scope.
- AI output generated from that intake: findings, risk scores, red flags and source citations.
- Account and billing details: your email address, plan, subscription status and how many investigations you have run. Card details are handled by our payment provider, Stripe, and never reach us.
- Basic technical data needed to deliver the site securely, such as request logs and IP address, kept for a short period.
3.Where your cases are stored
Cases, version history, labels and notes are saved to your account in our hosted database so you can reach them from any device. On a Business plan they are visible to your team members. A working copy is also kept in your browser while you are signed in and removed when you sign out. You can delete a case at any time from Case history.
4.AI processing
When you run or re-run an investigation, the intake is sent to our AI provider through the Lovable AI gateway to generate the dossier. It is processed to return a result and is not used by us to build profiles of you. The AI does not search the web live; it draws on its built-in knowledge.
5.Data about research subjects
The people you research have rights too. You must have a lawful basis and a legitimate reason for every search (see the Acceptable Use Policy). The tool is limited to lawful open-source information and does not access protected records, private accounts or data obtained by deception.
6.Lawful bases
We rely on legitimate interests to operate and secure the service, and on contract to provide the service you request. Where you research a person, you are responsible for your own lawful basis for that processing.
7.Sharing and transfers
We share data only with service providers who host the site and run the AI model, under written terms. Where data leaves the UK, we rely on adequacy regulations or approved transfer safeguards. We do not sell personal data.
8.Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). See the Data Subject Rights Policy and the Data Protection Complaints Policy.
