Terms of Use

Effective 13 October 2026 · Version 1.1 · Revision history

Applies to every use of AI Private Eye and of any dossier, comparison or report it produces.

1.What this service is

AI Private Eye is a self-serve research tool. You enter identifiers for a person or company, and an AI assembles a structured dossier of investigative leads with confidence ratings and source citations. It is an aid to your own checking, not a verification service, a credit reference agency, a background screening provider or a court-ready evidence pack.

2.Acceptable use

Use the tool only for lawful purposes, and only where you have a legitimate reason to research the subject: vetting a counterparty, a prospective hire you will interview, a business partner, a contractor, a seller or buyer. You are responsible for confirming that your use is lawful where you are.

  • Do not use output to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, defame or dox anyone.
  • Do not use output to make or support a decision that discrimination or automated decision-making law governs, including employment, housing, insurance, credit or tenancy decisions, without a qualified human review and a lawful basis.
  • Do not attempt to make the tool obtain anything by deception or unauthorised access.
  • Do not republish a dossier as verified fact, or present it as the work of a licensed investigator where it is not.
  • Do not use output against anyone's safety, or to locate a person who has asked not to be found.

3.No professional advice

Output is general information for your own reflection and follow-up. It is not legal, financial, medical, clinical, therapeutic, educational, safeguarding or employment advice, and creates no client, advisory or fiduciary relationship. Verify anything important, and any regulatory, compliance or safeguarding decision, with a suitably qualified person before you act on it.

4.Accuracy and your duty to verify

Findings are AI-generated and can be incomplete, out of date, misattributed or simply wrong. People and companies share names. A citation may no longer resolve to what the AI described. Open every source you intend to rely on, confirm it refers to the same subject, and keep your own record of what you checked. The confidence rating on a finding is the AI's own estimate of certainty, not a measure of truth.

5.Your cases and your data

Cases, labels, notes and version history are saved to your account so they follow you to any device where you sign in. On a Business plan, cases you open are shared with the members of your team. Cases you created before signing in are copied to your account the first time you sign in. Treat a dossier as confidential personal data and handle it under the privacy laws that apply to you. The built-in sample cases are fictional and exist only to demonstrate the workflow.

5a.Subscriptions, trial and cancellation

Plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel. The Professional free trial lasts 7 days, includes up to 3 investigations, and is available once per account; if you do not cancel before it ends, the plan starts and you are charged. Monthly investigation allowances reset on the 1st of each month and unused investigations do not roll over. You can change plan, update your card or cancel at any time from Manage billing on your Account page; after cancelling you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Fees already paid are not refunded except where the law requires it.

6.Re-running, exports and credits

Each investigation and each re-run consumes AI credits, and each re-run overwrites the live findings after saving them as a numbered version. Exports to PDF are generated from your browser's print function and are not retained or archived by the app.

7.Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Automated Governance Systems excludes all warranties, express or implied, in respect of assistant output, and accepts no liability for any loss or damage, including indirect, consequential, business, revenue or data loss, arising from reliance on it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8.Emergencies and risk of harm

This tool is not monitored and cannot help in a crisis. In an emergency, or if someone is at risk, contact your local emergency services or a relevant safeguarding authority immediately.

Also read the Ethical AI Policy, which sets out the methods the tool is limited to and what it will not do.
